The assignment for this project was to create something with a book that did not exist before. The only things I could add were glue, tape, and string. I skipped on the string.
And...I made this. I was very upset about the idea of destroying a book for any reason whatsoever, and I liked the symbology of technology crushing books and destroying information. I somewhat wish I had not turned his guns into quill pens, but such is life- I'm certainly not looking back now. The book used to make it was the Sorceress of Darshiva, by David Eddings.
Work time: Three to four days of STEADY work, spread across a week.
Very Important Copyright Notice! The design of this mech is inspired by the Warhound Titans of Warhammer 40,000 fame, and thus I must emphasize that A) it was made in accordance with the official tournament rules as posted on Games Workshop's website, and B) Since it was made for educational purposes, it is covered by the Fair Use clause of copyright law.
Not familiar with the book used, maybe if a more known book about destruction of books (obvious example: Farenheit 451 w/a titan armed with flamers) or war destroying knowledge (Canticle for Lebowitz) Otherwise, looks great!
